Well, that didn't take long

The BBC reports that President Ravalomanana has stepped down and is "handing power to the military." However, as reported yesterday, Mayor Andry has the support of said military, so he's essentially won this thing.

To weigh in on the issue, here is a thought from the author of the wildly popular LaPaube blog.

This wheel will turn again and we'll read about Rajoelina being forced out by angry populists in about 2013.

To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time for every purpose under heaven.

Yesterday on NPR they were talking about this. I wasn't around for the whole conversation, but something they said stuck out with me. Under the current laws, isn't Andry ineligible for presidency (being only like 34 when he needs to be 40?)

I haven't seen you address anything about that. Do you know any more than I do?

G: You're welcome

Stu: No, I don't. But like I said, no one will enforce any such law, so it might as well not exist.
